Amasake ChayaLocated along Hakone Kyu-kaido street between Hatajuku and Hakonejuku, Amasake Chaya is a 350 year-old shop. It has a cedar bark roof and was the traditional gathering place for travelers to Hakone. You will feel the history and culture just by seeing the shop. We recommend trying the Chikara-mochi (rice cake with black sesame and soybean flour) and the Amazake (a sweet drink made from fermented rice without additives or sugar). Be sure to go early as Amasake Chaya only prepare 50 Chikara-mochi per day. |
