Odawara Castle
A mountain castle built by the Omori Family in the Muromachi Period
(from 1338 to 1573) was a forerunner of Odawarajo. This donjon
was rebuilt in the style it had at the end of the Edo Period (1603
to 1867) based on a model made around 1700 in the Edo Period.
Inside the donjon are exhibits with historical information materials.
The top floor with an altitude of 60 m commands a good view of
Sagami Bay. |

Slip back in time in a Sengoku Costume
You can rent armor/Kimonos in Odawarajo’s Honmaru Square. To remember
the occasion, have your photo taken in Samurai dress with Odawarajo
in the background.

Asaichi at the Port
A fair is held in the morning on Saturdays (irregular) at Odawara
Fishing Port. Vegetables, fruits, and flowers produced by local
farmers, as well as marine products fresh from the sea, are displayed.
Their reasonable prices attract many shoppers. You can by fresh
food and learn how to eat them from the producers, which is one
of the charmes of morning fair.
Day/Time: Saturday 8:00 – 11:00 (Dried foods, frozen foods,
fruits and vegetables, etc.) From 9:00 until sold out (fresh
fish)

Kamaboko
An artisan, who moved from Nihonbashi, utilized his skill to produce
and complete Odawara’s fish-paste cake attached to a piece of
wood. Even now, sleek and tasty Kamaboko is being produced.
